After collecting and reviewing input from the community and district administrators regarding elementary attendance boundary rezoning, the Leander ISD Board of Trustees has adopted several changes for the 2015-16 school year.
To populate the new Christine Camacho Elementary School (501 Municipal Dr., Leander), set to open in the fall of 2015, the following changes have been made:
These neighborhood codes will move from Whitestone Elementary to Camacho Elementary:
- NBCD 4225 (Falcon Oaks)
- NBCD 4250 (Vista Ridge, new development Vista Ridge Estates)
- NBCD 4300 (Mason Creek North, Mason Creek east of Bagdad Rd., Magnolia Creek)
This neighborhood code will move from Plain Elementary to Camacho Elementary:
- NBCD 4100 (downtown Leander, Old Towne, Westview Meadows)
This neighborhood code will move from Winkley Elementary to Camacho Elementary:
- NBCD 4400 (High Chaparral, Leander Heights)
Additionally, NBCD 4260 (future development Carneros Ranch) will move from Whitestone Elementary to Bagdad Elementary.
And NBCD 4500 (County Glen) will move from Winkley Elementary to Whitestone Elementary.
The Board and district administrators held several meetings before and after the presentation of the demographic report in October, to examine possible attendance zone changes. Their goal was to create a plan with as little disturbance to LISD families as possible, one that would sustain projected student growth for five to 10 years, while also balancing student populations and maintaining communities.
The proposed changes were presented to the community at two public meetings earlier this fall. The final proposal, including one change from the community feedback, was presented and approved by the Board at its November 20 Board Meeting.
