House Bill 5 Community and Student Engagement - TX Education Code Sec 39.0545
Evaluation of District and Campus Programs
In 2013, the 83rd Legislature added an additional accountability performance process for each school district and campus in Texas. Each school district must evaluate the district’s performance, and the performance of each campus, in community and student engagement. Additionally, a performance rating must be assigned to the district and each campus, based on the evaluation, which includes one of the following: exemplary, recognized, acceptable, or unacceptable for both overall performance and for each individual evaluation category.
The categories included in the evaluation and rating consisted of: Fine Arts, Wellness and Physical Education; Community and Parental Involvement; 21st Century Workforce Development; Second Language Acquisition; Dropout Prevention Strategies; Educational Programs for Gifted and Talented Students, and Compliance (rated with yes/no).
